spin march 99 some ugly bastard resides on the cover and on page 145 there is a label profile for vinylcommunications with some snippets from the list's own kid-606. sadly, this issue is bagged so instead of reading the short piece, i bought. its vc/606 so i forgive myself. urb jan/feb 99 i thought urb was a pretty poor mag, but this issue is great, with lots of stuffs to interest the idm listmember. short piece's on autechre, vibert and squarepusher, all with some fairly nice pictures to boot, some reveiws, including the last ninja tour and future primative nights plus stuff we actually talk about here - schematics releases, fatcat, ae remixes... and only a few things are a bit dated, most not released yet. there's a look back at 98 through the eyes of artists including q-bert, cut chemist, mixmaster mike, dj spooky and you get to find out what liam howlett's fav release was last year - ok, who cares... but, there's also the tiny interview with boc, with there favs (previously listed here) a screenshot from the shaggar fraggar sessions (isp), a line about how orbital have a new release out TOMMORROW in the uk, some global comm info and even a flexi to boot. groovy. interface v.14 cool, if for no other reason buy this for the plans to make your own distortion box. haven't checked the issue out much yet, but there's a synth pop theme this issue (last was ambient music), with additional features on laswell, meat beat manifesto, dj spooky and aube. the nice thing about this is that there is enough hardware and software info in here to make it interesting even if the synth pop feature is the furtherest thing from your interests. the reviews are diverse and there's got to be something in there worth reading for everyone. groovy. raygun feb special dj issue. cool. mix master mike, coldcut and more. if you want to read about these guys this might be well worth the trip outside, know what i mean? pulse feb it would be amusing if i wrote more, at least for me, but i won't because if you have nothing good to say you shouldn't say anything at all, you know? brap@sonic.net icq_12645306 http://www.sonic.net/~brap/
